This compilation is cool. Has a lot of the best scenes.

No Reservations: Ireland
Anthony Bourdain. I live vicariously through him. What a freaking great life.

Wildflower featuring Patricia Arquette
One of the most underrated performances of Patricia Arquette's career. Looking back, I didn't realize it was Reese Witherspoon in the role of one of the kids next door. Growing up poor in the countryside is one thing, but it's tougher for someone handicapped. Hard to watch this clip (and the film) without thinking of my mother. Hardship, tears and joy. There aren't a lot of actors who can do what Arquette did in this story. Similar to what Zhang Ziyang did in The Road Home.

GP | Respect Yourself: The Stax Records Story | PBS
Saw this documentary on PBS last week and I was captivated. I grew up in a time just after Stax's uprising and demise. Much of my favorite music grew out of the R&B and soul of Stax's era. Compelling.

Rush Hour highlights
There have been so many stinker films in the action/buddy cop realm since the first Rush Hour debuted. With RH3 out this week, a look back at the first one is timely. And hilarious.

The Godfather 2: Don Ciccio
Revenge is best suited to the movies, not real life. It is served best by Robert DeNiro as Vito Andolini, a.k.a. Vito Andolini, to his childhood demon, Don Ciccio.

Knut the Polar Bear baby
In recognition of the bearish tone of the stock market, here's Knut the cuddly baby Polar bear. He lives in a German zoo. Cute now. Wait a few months and he won't be so cuddly any more.

Tampopo (excerpt)
I saw this hilarious, intriguing film years ago, but I did not remember the oyster scene nor the dentist scene. I need this DVD.

Ziyi Zhang: The best of her movies
Nice compilation. I've seen only two of her films. Looks like I've got some catching up to do.
The Road Home (starring Zhang Ziyi)
This is the essence of who Zhang Ziyi is as an actor and starlet. Absolutely one of my favorite films of all time because of its simplicity, purity and heartbreaking moments. Zhang Ziyi went on to fame in "Crouching Tiger, HIdden Dragon," but to me, this is her masterpiece.

Enter The Dragon
Back then, it was just normal, these theatrical trailers. But now? The narration sounds so hokey. Unitentionally funny. But I digress. This is the first of several Bruce Lee trailers that'll be here. Nobody quite like him since he left us.

Iron Man
Here's the link to the film's site.

Pulp Fiction trailer
This film is like someone telling you, "Hey, I'm gonna throw you a fastball down the middle and you can't touch it." And you swing. You miss. That's how great it is. So rich. So frothy. So damned good.

The Simpsons trailer
My old boss wouldn't let me watch The Simpsons at work when I started my first full-time job in 1990. It was painful to sit there and listen to the CNN Headline News repeat itself every 30 minutes, knowing that I was missing Homer and Bart. Life goes on.

Flute Solo - Raise The Red Lantern
I recently picked up the DVD so I could enjoy one of my favorite Gong Li films. The innate beauty of the film remains incredible, and I'd forgotten about this brief, but lilting scene.

Midnight Run trailer
My favorite buddy action comedy of all time. I've owned the VHS and DVD. Lost the DVD. Time to get another one. Charles Grodin and Robert DeNiro made a great team. I wish they would work together one more time.

When Harry Met Sally: New Year's Eve scene
Classic. One of my favorite films of all time. This scene includes the dialogue about why men and women can't be friends.

The Best Of Christopher Walken on SNL
Christopher Walken is one of a kind. Mr. Continental still cracks me up. Even at 6 minutes, this highlight reel is too short. More cowbell anyone?

The Godfather Part II
Amazing how great this film is, and how tacky the trailer is, particularly the voice-over. What can I say? It was the '70s. No matter. This remains my favorite of the trilogy.
Rocky
Yep, this is the trailer for the first Rocky. I never knew there was such a thing! And it's more than 3 minutes long. When Rocky was produced, nobody knew it had lasting power. Sylvester Stallone wrote the story, and the production was an underdog against all odds in itself. Great memories of this film, watching it in now shut-down Varsity Theater. A true heroic tale with the music and grit to match. They don't make enough movies like this anymore.

The Godfather
I was gonna wait until the 25th anniversary of the release (Sept. 19, 1972) ... but nah. The Godfather is too good to wait, to deny, to postpone. What a classic.

Dogs are so wacky!
There's a reason why dogs just don't show up in zen buddhist monasteries. They're wacky, a lot of times funny, and even crazy!
